As im sure many of you are now aware, two of the Whitehurst brothers have flown the nest!
These two talented, home grown players have decided to try and further their footballing careers and have decided to leave GAFC for the coming season.
Unfortunately, they have caused uproar by joining Goostrey's bitter rivals, Holmes Chapel, What are they thinking?!
Surely this is a backward step for the two brothers!
Early reactions from the Goostrey players' were of shock and resentment.
Senior pro Neil Wiggins is quoted with words of 'Judas' and 'wait until we meet this Sunday!'
Strong words like these only add to the growing hype surrounding Sunday's pre season friendly against our old adverseries, who will surely still be smarting from their cup final defeat at the hands of our beloved GAFC!
MANAGER URGED TO ACT SWIFTLY...
With the dramatic news that both Micheal and Edward Whitehurst have decided to leave GAFC and join Holmes Chapel,
The Gaffa (Mr Rushton), has been urged by many of the senior pro's and supporters, to contact Charles Whitehurst (Che Che), and ensure that GAFC acquire his services for the coming season.
Charles had an excellent season last year, and many see him as the vital piece in the jigsaw if Goostrey are to succeed this year and defend the cup they worked so hard to win!

FRIENDLY FIXTURE
GAFC 2-2 AC Bolan
A less than convincing first half display saw Goostrey a goal down at the break. This was mainly due to Goosteys' direct play, as they looked to play the long ball through the middle, which was easily intercepted by Bolan's impressive number 14.
Some stern words from the Gaffa at the break brought a much improved second half performance, with excellent dispalys from Martin, operating at right midfield, who showed a great work rate; and more noticeably from our unsung hero Gavin Kay, who must be one of the most versatile utility players in the league.
Gav contributed two second half goals, both from corners, which saw Goostrey take the lead and also take control of the game.
Unfortunately, Bolan got a late equaliser from a corner, but this didn't affect what was a good second half display.
Well Done lads.
